Wednesday 8th of June sees the annual Katharine Bird Summer Party. It’s a chance for all the regulars to spend the evening in a relaxed atmosphere getting advice for the up coming major summer events whilst enjoying the obligatory Pimms and nibbles. There are great gifts for those who chose to buy on the night with a free scarf on purchases over £30 and a free Day Birger tote bag if you are so kind as to spend more than £100 on the night.

With Ascot coming we have beautiful dressess from Libelula, Bombshell, Tara Jarmon, Joseph and more and if this glorious weather continues then a blouse from Baby Ceylon or Inwear would be as perfect as strawberries and cream at Wimbledon or even Andy Murray winning it!!

Nocturne is a British label that we’ve stocked for a number of years for good reason, to which anyone who has one of their fabulous evening dresses can attest. The label uses the finest silks or heavy crepe – whatever best suits the cut and flow of each exquisit garment. The dresses often have distinctive embellishments which also follow through into their delightful jewellery. The fit of Nocturne has often been quite generous which is great for the fuller figure. We do usually stock the label in size 8 as a consequence. Quite a few of the dresses have sleeves which is just what our customers want in the Winter, we find. Nocturne is just the label you are looking for if you want to stand out from the crowd but still be elegantly dressed, just for the occasion.

We discovered Scottish Jewellery designer Chris Lewis last year at London Fashion Week and his beautifully crafted silver necklaces, earrings and bracelets were an instant hit. Based in Mexico, Chris comes up with a range of designs from impossibly delicate to sumptuously substantial. We are delighted to have a new collection in the shop. Day Birger et Mikkelson or as we like to call it, DAY!

Day Birger et Mikkelson, universally shortened to just ‘Day’ even though there is also a Night Birger et Mikkelson (!), is one of those labels that, once you’ve discovered it, you don’t know how you ever lived without it. One of a small but excellent group of Scandinavian labels to emerge in the noughties, Day Birger et Mikkelson is romance personified: delicate details, stunning prints, scrumptious fabrics. The styling is often quite loose which adds to the flowing romance and also makes the fit easy and comfortable. This doesn’t mean Day Birger et Mikkelson is unflattering however. It’s young, cutting edge fashion for any age, for any occasion and often a whole load of occasions in one outfit! Day Birger et Mikkelson also makes really lovely accessories that often sell out in a flash and is particularly strong in separates and dresses.
