Day Birger et Mikkelson or as we like to call it, DAY!

Day Birger et Mikkelson, universally shortened to just ‘Day’ even though there is also a Night Birger et Mikkelson (!), is one of those labels that, once you’ve discovered it, you don’t know how you ever lived without it. One of a small but excellent group of Scandinavian labels to emerge in the noughties, Day Birger et Mikkelson is romance personified: delicate details, stunning prints, scrumptious fabrics. The styling is often quite loose which adds to the flowing romance and also makes the fit easy and comfortable. This doesn’t mean Day Birger et Mikkelson is unflattering however. It’s young, cutting edge fashion for any age, for any occasion and often a whole load of occasions in one outfit! Day Birger et Mikkelson also makes really lovely accessories that often sell out in a flash and is particularly strong in separates and dresses. If you’ve never encountered Day Birger et Mikkelson before, when you do it’ll make your DAY!

Libelula is mainly known for its gorgeous dresses ranging from evening, occasion to day wear. Set up and designed by Sophie Cranston, after her formative experience at Temperley, Libelula always uses sumptuous and beautiful fabrics of the highest quality.

Known for its prints, particularly in the Summer, Libelula has built up a loyal following at Katharine Bird over the last few years. Libelula is also much appreciated for the beautiful and flattering cut of its clothes. The dresses often feature pretty sleeves and easy lengths whilst always having an interesting twist or sexy reveal. If you’re looking for a full length dress, Libelula nearly always has a great selection for anything from bridesmaids to balls, beach maxis to evening weddings.

Libelula is also known for lovely blouses, wearable but glamourous coats and jackets and Wedding dresses (to order). In fact, if you haven’t got something from Libelula in your wardrobe, you have no idea what you are missing!

Trinity Hospice show outfit details

As you may have already read, Katharine Bird recently took part in a local charity fashion show to help Trinity House Hospice, held at a stunning central Clapham location. With designers from all over London coming together to help the night happen, there was a wide range of designs and outfits on show during the course of the evening. Local Charity fashion show

Katharine Bird took part in a fashion show in aid of Trinity Hospice on Tuesday night (2/2/10). Arranged by local mums and held at a spectacular Clapham home, the catwalk show featured outfits from a number of local boutiques along with some highlights from the new Amanda Wakeley collection. Dresses from Libelula, Valentino Red and InWear caught the eye along with an ensemble from Joseph and Day Birger & Mikkelsen which featured the soon to be ubiquitous ‘boyfriend jacket’. The evening was dedicated to local child Sidney Banks with all the money raised going to Trinity Hospice. We’d like to thank Julie for suggesting our involvement and Andrea Muirhead for making sure our clothes looked so lovely. Finally a thank you to Stephen and Johnny from Cox McMillan for some great hair!

For those present at the event, you’ll know the theme of the fashion show was how to get back into fashion and dressing well when you’ve recently (or not so recently) become a Mum and lost some body confidence and fashion savvy. Katharine, Tina and Laura all love to help put outfits together – concentrating on what you need, for when and with whom.
